Ask the Author: Violeta M. Bagia

What would you like readers to know about you?

I love nature and walking in the woods, I love winter and snow. So, when the weather cools down, you’ll find me sitting beside a fire and writing.

What is the Hart of Darkness series about for those who haven’t read it?

The current books that are out from the Hart of Darkness series are: Ace of Hart, King of Hart and Queen of Hart. The books are about Sensitives, a superhuman race who have allied themselves with world governments to do the difficult jobs, non-Sensitives cannot. Think of it as a cross between X-men and Alias!

What has been your inspiration for writing Ace of Hart?

My inspiration for writing Ace of Hart was a creepy walk home from the train station one night. I kept thinking how so many girls are vulnerable and so many aren’t able to defend themselves if something goes wrong. I wanted to write a kickass girl who could do all of that and protect others. I wanted to write a non-conventional hero with a load of baggage and very direct link to the military. (homage to the service my dad did!).

What books or authors inspired you to become a writer?

Jennifer L. Armentrout and Stephen King. So you could only imagine my eclectic mix of YA and horror!

What advice would you give to aspiring authors who want to write a book?

I would say to stick with it. It gets tough and lonely and super disheartening, but if you persevere, you’ll end up with a first draft, then you can edit, you can push forward and get to your second and third and so on. But if you don’t even complete the first, you couldn’t possibly realize how great you could be!
