Ask the Author: Jerry Spinelli
What would you like readers to know about you?
I’m a grand and great-grandfather of 37.
What is your book about for those who haven’t read it?
It’s about a girl who, when she leaves for school each day, walks out the door not as her best imitation of others, but as her own self.
What has been your inspiration for writing it?
My wife and fellow writer Eileen.
What was your favorite scene or part of your book to write?
The Bunny Hop.
What books or authors inspired you to become a writer?
None really. I barely read as a kid. It seemed to be my own idea.
What advice would you give to aspiring authors who want to write a book?
Write what you care about.
