Ask the Author: Josh Funk
What would you like readers to know about you?
I’m vegan.
What is your book about for those who haven’t read it?
In Lady Pancake & Sir French Toast #4: SHORT & SWEET, the two titular characters are going stale, so they venture off to Professor Biscotti’s to utilize her ‘de-spoiling ray’ – which unfortunately malfunctions and turns them into little kids. What has been your inspiration for writing it?
Well, as it’s the fourth book about leftovers, people began asking why they weren’t going stale yet … so I decided to address that in this book.
What was your favorite scene or part of your book to write?
Probably the all of the food-spoofed library books.
What books or authors inspired you to become a writer?
Iggy Peck, Architect. The Curious Garden, The Gardener. Vunce Upon a Time. Chicken Cheeks. All books I read to my kids when they were very little before I started writing myself.
What advice would you give to aspiring authors who want to write a book?
Keep writing new things. Don’t get stuck revising that same story over and over again. Take what you learned from writing and revising that first manuscript and apply it to your next. It’ll likely be much better than the first. And the third will be better than the second. And so on. Keep writing new things.
