Ask the Author: Aisha Urooj

What would you like readers to know about you?

I am Aisha Urooj and My Dear Ellie is my debut novel. I plan to continue the series with a trilogy. I am currently working on the second book.

What is your book about for those who haven’t read it?

My book is about friendship. My Dear Ellie is centered around the friendship of my two main characters Eleanor James and Cassandra Grace.

What has been your inspiration for writing it?

I haven’t come across many books centered around female friendship. Friendships are an important part of life and can give a person so much hope, love, and happiness. I wanted my book to be an ode to friendship.

What was your favorite scene or part of your book to write?

All the dialogues between Eleanor (Ellie) and Cassandra (Cassie) were fun to write and I hope that it comes across to the readers and they enjoy it too.

What books or authors inspired you to become a writer?

I am inspired by the classics. I am a great fan of Jane Austen, JRR Tolkien, JK Rowling…all of them have a special talent and magic in writing about friendship, comradery, relationships in general. Their books provide such joy to so many people. I hope that my books can do the same as well.

What advice would you give to aspiring authors who want to write a book?

Just keep writing. Don’t listen too much to the outer and even your inner critic. Your writing talent will get better with practice and introspection. Write because you love to and never forget to have fun while doing it.
